Mission to Mars Launch
May 5
Witness the launch of InSight aboard an Atlas V Rocket from Vandenberg SFB on the exciting Mission to Mars launch slated for Saturday May 5. You’ll have to get up early … Really early. Lift off is slated for 4:05 am, West Coast time. You can watch from one of two public viewing locations – The Lompoc Airport and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. NASA TV coverage begins at 3:30 am. Please note that the launch day and time subject to change due to weather and technical issues.

Step back in time at La Purisima Mission State Historic Park where costumed docents offer a glimpse at early mission life back in the 1820s during “Hide & Tallow” Mission Life Day. See special demonstrations and learn about the leather and tallow crafts of the Mission. Fun for families! Parking is $6. Event is free.

Wild Horse Sanctuary Guided Tour
May 26
Return to Freedom in Lompoc provides a permanent safe haven to 400 wild horses and 29 burros. During this special docent-guided walking tour in May, you’ll have a rare opportunity to tour the sanctuary and observe and learn about the herds along the way. Suggested Donation: $50/adult, $15 /children under 12.

Friday Afternoons
Farmers and vendors gather every Friday afternoon in Old Town Lompoc to sell fresh-picked seasonal produce, fresh cut flowers, succulents, baked goods, and more. Open 2 to 6 pm.
