Harvest Some Wine Tasting Fun in Lompoc
Harvest season 2016 is here, and Lompoc winemakers are producing some of California’s best Pinots, Chardonnays, and other cool climate wines. Experts say it’s the combination of climate, east-west hill orientation, and calcium-rich soil that makes wine magic in Lompoc’s Sta. Rita Hills.
Start your sipping adventure in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto. This collection of 20 boutique tasting rooms – most within walking distance to each other – has become a mecca for artisan wine production. Each winery has its own distinct charm and ambience, and often the winemakers themselves are on-site to pour your taste and talk wine.
Next stop? Head to the Sta. Rita Hills appellation for some wine country ambience and classic vineyard vistas. Travel along Highway 246 and Santa Rosa Road where you’ll find Estate Wineries and Vineyards around every bend.
