Jalama Burger with a side of Pacific Blue

Famous Jalama Beach Burger near Lompoc CAIs it the secret sauce? Just the right seasoning on the meat? The shredded lettuce? Or perhaps the amazing view that makes the Jalama Burger so darn delicious?

Jalama Beach in Lompoc CANo doubt that the drive to Jalama Beach near Lompoc makes the burger worth the trip.  Jalama Road winds its way through the Santa Ynez Mountains, passing by hillside ranches, old barns, and dense oak forests along the way. At the end of the road… a take-your-breath-away scenic California coast overlook, and a remote spot for campers, surfers, bird watchers, and yes… burger lovers!

Home of the Famous Jalama Hamburger - LompocThe on-site Jalama Beach Grill at the Beach County Park proudly touts “home of the famous Jalama Burger” on its sign, and here’s what you can expect: A 1/3 lb. lean grilled ground beef patty, stacked with shredded lettuce, sliced red onion, tomato and pickles – topped with secret sauce – on a grilled bun. Add cheese if you want, jalapenos if you dare, and don’t forget a side of fries. Also on the menu is homemade clam chowder, chili beans, grilled chicken sandwiches (served with the same secret sauce), and Aunt Ruth’s Apple Cake.  View full menu

Sunset Magazine recently proclaimed the Jalama Burger as one of “California’s Best Beach Burgers” and we couldn’t agree more. But don’t take our word for it … come try it, and tell us what you think.

Jalama Beach Grill is generally open 8 am to 6:30 pm (summer), and 8 am to 4:30 pm (fall thru spring). Busiest times are weekends, lunchtime and just before closing.  9991 Jalama Rd, Lompoc, CA 93436.  Call (805) 736-5027 for more information.

And while you’re heading to the beach, be sure to explore Lompoc on the way. There are lots of fun things to see and do in town including wine tasting in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, self-guided mural tours in Old Town, and hiking at La Purisima Mission State Park.
