Explore Lompoc Awards Grants to Local Events

Lompoc’s Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) announced today that it will be awarding its first round of grants totaling $32,500 from the Explore Lompoc Grant Program on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 2:00 pm, at 111 So. I Street, Lompoc, California.

The grant recipients include:

The Lompoc Valley Festival Association, which will receive two grants: $5,000 for the SpringFest (April 17, 18 & 19, 2015) and $10,000 for the Lompoc Valley Flower Festival (June 24-28, 2015);

The Lompoc Police Foundation will receive $17,500 for title sponsorship of the 805 Criterium Weekend (June 19-21, 2015)

“With the Explore Lompoc Grant Program, our goal is to grow the local tourism economy through increased visitor spending,” said Board Member Atul Patel, who oversees the Grant Committee. “We are looking forward to awarding many more grants in the coming months.”

The Explore Lompoc Grant Funding Program provides funds to qualified local organizations and businesses producing events and visitor programs that generate room nights for Lompoc lodging facilities and help to promote the Lompoc Valley as a preferred travel destination.

A total of $175,000 has been set aside in the 2015 TBID budget for the grant program.

In addition marketing to the grant program, Explore Lompoc will be promoting Lompoc, California as a visitor destination through print and digital ad campaigns, rack brochures, social media platforms, press trips and other marketing initiatives.
