Mural in a Weekend
October 6, 2018 - October 7, 2018
A new mural will be added to the impressive collection of nearly 40 murals in Old Town Lompoc during the Mural in a Weekend painting party slated for October 6-7, 2018. Painting for the mural is scheduled for both days, from 8 am to 5 pm, at the back east wall of 100 South H Street in Lompoc.
Created by Master Artist Art Mortimer, the new mural entitled "Chautauqua" will depict the traveling shows that flourished in US at the turn of 19th century (portion of new artwork for mural pictured above)
Residents and visitors are invited to help paint the mural - for a few hours, all day, or both days - alongside Mortimer and artists from the Lompoc Mural Society who will help guide the project.
The mural dedication ceremony is slated for Sunday afternoon, Oct 7 at 5 pm.
COME VOLUNTEER TO PAINT - NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
Simply show up at the mural site - and sign up to volunteer!
100 So. H Street, in the rear parking lot.
Painting from 8 am to 5 pm Saturday; 8 am til finish on Sunday.
All volunteers/painters will need to check in upon arrival at the mural site. Look for the sign-in table in the parking lot, under the Explore Lompoc canopy.
You will be asked to sign a liability waiver to participate in the painting, along with a model release form for the photos and video clips that will be taken over the weekend. Children welcome with adult supervision; parents must sign the waiver for their kids.
You will then receive a wrist band, which will give you access to the mural painting area, and a really cool Mural in a Weekend souvenir pin - our way of saying thanks for painting with us!
Throughout the weekend, Master Artist Art Mortimer - who designed the new mural - will be on hand to give you specific instructions on where to paint, how to paint, and what colors to use.
Wear painting clothes, comfortable flat shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Bring some water and snacks if you plan to be there for several hours. Lunch is available at several nearby eateries in Old Town.
A group photo will be taken at the Mural Dedication Ceremony Sunday at 5 pm - all volunteers welcome!
Mural in a Weekend is presented by the Lompoc Mural Society and Explore Lompoc.
